Are you overwhelmed? Do you always wish there were more hours per day? Does it seem as if you are always falling farther and farther behind? If this sounds like you, perhaps you need to learn better time management skills. Below are some simple tips to motivate you to get started.
Strive to manage your time wisely. Think over each task and how long it will take and then tell yourself what time that task should be done by. This way, you can make better use of the time you have. If you unexpectedly have some free time, use it to work on any tasks you are behind on, or just to relax.
Start your day by going over your schedule and filling in any blanks. You’re more likely to complete your goals if you know what your goals actually are at the beginning of the day. Make sure you aren’t overbooked that day. Keep close attention to your diet. If a heavy meal first thing makes you feel sloppy -then get rid of it. Personally, I like to have a very light breakfast followed by a thermogenic & nootropic rolled into one. I follow this with a balanced lunch (protein/carbs/essential fats) and a cup of black coffee. No caffeine after 4 pm and I sleep like a baby.
Make sure that you schedule in some breaks during the day. By not allowing time for traffic or phone calls, your entire schedule could be thrown off course. When you know they’re coming, you can be prepared for interruptions.
What is your current schedule doing for you? If you aren’t finishing tasks, think about the reason you aren’t. You must know what you get out of your time now.
Each morning when you wake up, take some time to plan your day. Jot down what you want to do and the estimated time it will take to do it. A day-by-day schedule is very important when planning your time.
When you are working on a task, do not answer the phone until you complete it. When your train of thought is interrupted, it is difficult to get back on track. Follow up on any missed texts, instant messages, or phone calls once you have finished the task you were working on.
Examine your schedule. Do you see some unnecessary activities there? Could you get someone else to perform some of these tasks so that you will have more time? The best skill to have is that of delegation. When you delegate a task to another person, that is something to mark off of your list.
Proper time management will make your schedule more flexible. Use these tips to manage your time better. The sooner you work on time management skills, the faster your life will be organized.
